Founding Full-Stack Engineer
First engineering hire. Own a live Next.js, Firebase and Stripe platform and make it safe to go faster.
Why this role exists
The platform runs real bookings, real payouts and real school contracts, and today the founder is the only person who can be paged. We want an engineer who owns it, sets the rules the coding agents work inside, and builds the data products that come next.
What done looks like in 90 days
- You can deploy, roll back and debug production without the founder.
- The invariants for money, auth and tenancy are written down and enforced in code review.
- One data product (the lesson pipeline or Gamer DNA) has shipped a visible step forward.
What you'll do
- Own bookings, subscriptions, the wallet ledger, school tenants and the video pipeline on Cloudflare Stream.
- Direct and review the coding agents that write most of our code.
- Build the lesson pipeline and Gamer DNA, a scored profile of how a player plays.
- Keep money and auth boring: integer cents, one ledger, signed roles, an audit row on every privileged write.
- Carry the pager.
Who you'll work with
You report to Derek and pair with the growth engineer. You are the technical owner the rest of the team comes to.
What we look for
- You have shipped and operated production TypeScript on Next.js, with payments and authentication you were accountable for.
- You read a codebase before you change it and can explain a trade-off in two sentences.
- You have used LLM coding tools seriously and know where they fail.
- Firestore at scale, Stripe Connect, Cloudflare Stream.
- You play the games our students play.
