Why this role exists

The platform runs real bookings, payments, coach payouts and school programs, and today the founder is the only engineer. This role takes ownership of production so the product can improve faster without becoming less reliable.

What you'll do

  • Own production: deploys, monitoring, incident response and rollbacks.
  • Keep the core customer workflows reliable: sign-up, booking, checkout, subscriptions, coach payouts and school accounts.
  • Build and maintain integrations with payment, video, email and messaging providers.
  • Ship product improvements, measure their effect and report what changed.
  • Set the review standard for code written with AI tools, and review that code.
  • Document how the systems work so others can operate them.

Advanced player-intelligence projects are scoped separately and are not the core of this role.

What we look for

Essential
  • You have shipped and operated production TypeScript web applications, including payments or authentication you were accountable for.
  • You debug production issues methodically and explain trade-offs in plain language.
  • You use AI coding tools and verify their output before it ships.
Helpful experience
  • Next.js, React, Firebase or Firestore, and Stripe, including Connect.
  • Video delivery or streaming platforms.
  • Product analytics and running experiments.
  • Familiarity with competitive games.

What good looks like

  1. Deploys, rollbacks and incident response run without the founder.
  2. Core customer workflows are monitored, and failures are caught before customers report them.
  3. Each shipped improvement has a measured before and after.
  4. Rules for money, authentication and accounts are documented and enforced in code review.

Compensation

Proposed range · yearly base salary
$130,000–$155,000
Proposed initial equity grant
0.75%–1.5%

Proposed ranges are planning ranges, not offers. Final terms are confirmed in writing. Equity is a one-time total initial grant, subject to vesting and formal board approval. It is not annual compensation or a guarantee of future ownership.

About FPS Lounge

FPS Lounge helps competitive gamers improve through expert coaching, educational content, and programs for players and institutions. We’re building toward a connected platform for player development, expert talent, and competition across games.

We are a small, remote team. You work directly with the founder, take responsibility for defined outcomes, and use evidence to improve the product and the customer experience.

FPS Lounge is an equal opportunity company. We hire on what you can do, not where you are from, how you look, who you love or what you believe.
